Guerilla Communications have had a very successful working partnership with Trinity Square Shopping Centre for a few years now and this Christmas we have been working together on one of the most popular events of the year – the Christmas Lights Switch On, which took place on Thursday 23rd November.
This is one of the biggest events of the year at Trinity Square so the pressure was on to deliver an event full of festive fun and what an evening it turned out to be!
The night focused on showcasing local talent throughout including Britain’s Got Talent finalist Jamie Lee Harrison, local songstress Channy and girl band ‘Melody 5’. The night also included a glitter station provided by Heart Radio and there was also a raffle which helped raise money for local charity, Tiny Lives.
The main aim was to bring as many people as possible to Trinity Square for the switch on. This included designing an eye-catching advert that would entice people to come to the square on the night. Guerilla wanted to make sure that the adverts were not only exciting but contained plenty of information about the acts on the night.
These adverts used mixed mediums including outdoor advertising at local metro stations in Gateshead, and digital advertising through Trinity Square’s website and social media channels. Through using both methods, a large crowd of people turned up on the night to enjoy the show and there was an increase in footfall of over 500% based on the previous weeks.
During the event, Guerilla were able to use the ‘stories’ section on Instagram to keep followers updated on what acts were performing thus helping to increase coverage of the event on the night and for 24 hours after, driving lots of additional traffic to the Trinity Square social media channels.
